ASICS Barcode Lookup
Enter the digits printed under the barcode on an ASICS box label to see which shoe it belongs to. Free, no account needed.
What an ASICS box label shows
An ASICS box label carries the barcode with a row of digits underneath, the style number, the size and the color. The lookup needs the digits under the bars. The example on this page, 4570158713306, is a 13-digit EAN-13 for an ASICS Gel-Kayano 14 in White Graphite Grey.
The style number looks like 1203A895-105. ASICS also prints it on the shoe: the brand states that it sits at the top of the size tag, usually on the inside of the tongue. That tag helps when the box is gone, but the barcode on the box is the number this lookup accepts.
How to read an ASICS style number
An ASICS style number has two parts joined by a dash. The first part is eight characters: four digits, a letter and three digits. The second part is a three-digit color suffix.
- 1203A895-105: Gel-NYC 2.0 in Cream Everglade.
- 1203A895-300: the same shoe in another colorway. Only the suffix changes.
The first eight characters stay the same across the colorways of one version of a shoe, and the suffix picks the colorway. Retailers write the code with a dash or with a space, so 1201A019-200 and 1201A019 200 are the same style number. The suffix is not a size. Every size of a colorway shares the full style number and has its own barcode.
Style numbers for popular ASICS models
Four popular ASICS lifestyle runners show how the first eight characters, the stem, map to a shoe:
- Gel-Kayano 14: many colorways sit under 1201A019, such as 1201A019-200.
- Gel-1130: 1201A256 for the men's shoe, for example 1201A256-116.
- GT-2160: 1203A275, for example 1203A275-001.
- Gel-NYC: 1203A383 for the first version and 1203A895 for the Gel-NYC 2.0.
One model name can sit under more than one stem. The Gel-Kayano 14 in the example above is filed under a stem that starts with 1203, not 1201A019. Treat the stem as the code of one version of a shoe, and rely on the full style number or the barcode to identify a pair.
What the digits on an ASICS barcode mean
The example EAN starts with 45. GS1 Japan issues the prefixes 450 to 459 and 490 to 499, which fits a company based in Japan. The prefix shows where the company prefix was licensed, not where the shoe was made. After the company prefix comes the item reference for one product in one size, and the last digit is a check digit.
An EAN-13 that starts with 4 has no 12-digit UPC form. Only an EAN-13 with a leading 0 can be shortened to a UPC-A. Enter all 13 digits. If another system wants 14 digits, the GTIN converter adds the leading zero.
Lookup mistakes specific to ASICS
- Typing the style number. 1203A895-105 contains a letter and a dash, and the barcode lookup takes digits only. Search it on the style code lookup page.
- Dropping a digit. Twelve digits typed from a 13-digit ASICS label is a different number. Count them, or run the code through the barcode validation tool.
- Confusing the men's and women's shoe. The Gel-1130 is 1201A256 for men and 1202A164 for women. They are separate products with separate barcodes.
- Confusing similar names. Gel-NYC and Gel-NYC 2.0 are different shoes with different stems.
- A code we do not hold. A valid barcode we have no record of returns a not-found page.
What the free lookup shows
For a barcode we hold, the public page shows the product name, a product image, the brand, the barcode type and the first four characters of the style number. Size, release date, retail price, colorway and description need a signed-in account with API requests available, on a paid plan or the free trial. Plans are in the pricing section.
Because ASICS stems begin with the same four digits across many shoes, the first four characters narrow the result less than they do for other brands. Use the product name and image to confirm the match.
For other labels, the New Balance barcode lookup page explains style numbers without a dash and width codes, the adidas barcode lookup page covers another brand with 13-digit EANs, and the sneaker barcode lookup works for any box.
