Research and data studies

The Barcodes.GG research desk publishes data studies about barcodes, product data and sneaker prices. Each one states its sample and its limits, and every figure on the page comes from a CSV file you can download.

Data as of · Barcodes.GG (Reactive Systems SL)

We run a barcode lookup service and a sneaker product catalogue, so we see the same patterns in product data again and again: wrong check digits, lost leading zeros, codes copied from examples, prices that drift from retail. A study turns one of those patterns into numbers. We publish the counts, the charts, the method and the files, and we name no site from a sample. Each study states its sample, its rules, its limits and its corrections, in a method section or on the methodology page.

We update each study once a quarter, with new data and a new date. Earlier CSV files stay online, so a figure you cite keeps its source. Free for editorial use with a link to Barcodes.GG. Cite the study page, not a tool page, so your readers can check the method. Questions or corrections: mail@barcodes.gg.

Invalid example barcodes in public documentation (Barcodes.GG research)

Invalid example barcodes in public documentation (2026)

361 documentation sites in 25 languages show an example barcode that fails its own check digit. On 78% of them, the writer kept counting into the last digit instead of calculating it, and 1234567890123 alone is on 39 sites. The study explains why the same codes repeat, where they travel and what a documentation owner should change.
