Best Sneaker Barcode API: Six Options Compared

No single API is the best for every sneaker data job. The right one depends on whether you start from a scanned barcode, need resale prices, or also sell products outside footwear. This page compares six options using what each vendor publishes on its own site. Barcodes.GG publishes this page and is one of the six.

The short answer by use case

  • Identify a scanned shoe box down to the size: Barcodes.GG. The catalogue is keyed on the barcode and each barcode carries its size.
  • Resale prices and sales history from StockX and GOAT: KicksDB. Barcodes.GG does not return market prices.
  • The most requests for the money: KicksDB. Its €29 plan includes 50,000 requests and it has a free plan with 1,000 requests per month. Barcodes.GG costs more per request.
  • General products such as groceries, electronics or books: UPCitemdb or Go-UPC. Both state databases in the hundreds of millions of items. Barcodes.GG covers sneakers and streetwear only.
  • A few general lookups a day at no cost: UPCitemdb. Its Explorer plan allows 100 requests per day with no signup.
  • Data scraped from one named marketplace or shop: Retailed.io, which sells one endpoint per data source.

Barcodes.GG

Barcodes.GG is a barcode API for sneakers and streetwear, run by Reactive Systems SL. It holds 3.09 million barcodes across 1.57 million products. A lookup takes a UPC or EAN and returns the product, the size that barcode belongs to and a product image. On Plus plans a reverse lookup takes a style code and returns the barcodes held for it, one per size.

Plans start at €19 per month for 2,000 requests, and the 7-day trial includes 100 requests with no payment method. Lookups that find nothing are not charged.

Where it is weaker: the database is far smaller than the general ones in this table, it has no permanent free plan, it returns retail price and not resale prices, and it will miss most barcodes outside footwear and apparel. Endpoints and a sample response are on the barcode lookup API page.

KicksDB

KicksDB describes itself as one API that aggregates pricing, sales history and product details from StockX, GOAT, Flight Club and more. Its standard API lists lookups by SKU, UPC or name, and the sample response on its homepage shows a UPC identifier on a product variant.

Published plans on 2 October 2026: Free at €0 with 1,000 requests per month and access to the US market, Starter at €29 with 50,000 requests and global market access, Pro at €79 with 250,000 requests and real-time notifications, and Enterprise on request. Prices exclude VAT.

Choose KicksDB when the job is pricing, market data or Shopify monitoring, or when request volume is high and budget is tight. We did not measure how many of its variants carry a barcode, or whether EAN codes from European boxes are included, so test that with your own codes. More detail is on the KicksDB alternative page.

Retailed.io

Retailed.io sells scraper APIs by data source, plus an inventory tool for resellers. One of its endpoints is a Sneaker Lookup UPC API that takes a barcode number as the query parameter. Its page states that access to this endpoint is limited and has to be requested.

Pricing is by credits. The free tier is 50 credits once with no credit card. Paid API usage starts at $49 per month for 18,000 credits and runs to $999 for 530,000 credits. The page for the UPC endpoint does not state how many credits one request costs, so the cost per lookup could not be compared.

Choose Retailed.io when you need data from a specific marketplace that it scrapes and are comfortable with a credit model.

UPCitemdb and Go-UPC

Both are general barcode databases. UPCitemdb states over 744 million unique UPC and EAN numbers and offers lookup and search functions. Its free Explorer plan allows 100 requests per day without signing up, the DEV plan costs $99 per month for 20,000 lookups per day, and PRO costs $699 per month for 150,000 lookups per day.

Go-UPC states over 500 million products. Its Developer plan costs $74.95 per month for 5,000 requests, Startup $245 for 45,000 and Enterprise $795 for 450,000. Trial API keys are available on request.

Either is the better choice when your barcodes span many product categories. Neither is built around footwear, where the size behind each barcode and the link from style code to barcodes matter. We did not measure their match rate on sneaker barcodes. The UPCitemdb alternative page goes deeper.

Barcode Lookup

Barcode Lookup (barcodelookup.com) is a general product database with an API. Its website answered our request with a security check on 2 October 2026, so its plans and prices are not verified here and no figure is quoted. Read its API page directly for current pricing. The Barcode Lookup alternative page explains how to compare it for sneaker data.

How to choose: test your own barcodes

Published database sizes say little about whether your items are covered. A short test does:

  1. Collect 50 barcodes from the stock you handle, across brands and sizes. Check them first with the barcode validation tool so typing errors do not skew the result.
  2. Run the same list through each candidate on its free tier or trial.
  3. Count the matches, then check whether each match gives the fields you display: size, style code, image.
  4. Work out the monthly cost at your real volume, using the plan you would need.

For Barcodes.GG, the trial covers a 50-barcode test with requests to spare, and misses are not counted.

How this comparison was made

Every competitor figure was read on the vendor site on 2 October 2026 and is linked under the table. Prices are shown in the currency each vendor uses and are not converted. Request limits are per month unless a row says per day. Plans change, so confirm on the vendor site before buying. No match rates, speed figures or review scores appear here because none were measured.

Try it with your own barcodes

7 days, 100 requests, no payment method. Lookups that find nothing are not charged.
