KicksDB Alternative for Sneaker Barcode Lookup
KicksDB and Barcodes.GG overlap less than the names suggest. KicksDB is a market data API: prices and sales from StockX, GOAT and Flight Club. Barcodes.GG is a barcode database: scan a box, get the product and size. This page says plainly which to use when. Barcodes.GG publishes it.

What KicksDB does well
KicksDB (kicks.dev) describes itself as one API for the secondary sneaker and streetwear market, aggregating pricing, sales history and product details from StockX, GOAT, Flight Club and more.
- Market data. Asks, price ranges and sales history across marketplaces. Barcodes.GG has none of this.
- Price per request. Starter costs €29 per month for 50,000 requests and Pro €79 for 250,000, excluding VAT. That is far less per request than Barcodes.GG.
- A standing free plan. €0 for 1,000 requests per month with access to the US market.
- Lookups by SKU, UPC or name, as listed for its standard API. The sample response on its homepage shows a UPC identifier on a product variant.
- Shopify monitoring and real-time notifications on the paid plans.
These details were read on kicks.dev on 2 October 2026.
Where it falls short for barcode work
KicksDB is organised around marketplace listings. Barcodes appear as an attribute of a listing variant, which is fine when you start from a product and want its price. It is less certain when you start from a barcode on a box.
- Barcode coverage is not published. The site does not state how many variants carry a UPC or EAN. We did not measure it.
- EAN codes. The homepage sample shows UPC identifiers. Boxes sold in Europe often carry a 13-digit EAN, and we could not confirm from the site how those are handled.
- The free plan is limited to the US market. Global market access starts on the €29 plan.
- Products that are not traded on resale marketplaces. A catalogue aggregated from StockX, GOAT and Flight Club follows what those marketplaces list.
None of these is a defect. They follow from what KicksDB is built to do, and a test with your own barcodes will show whether they matter for you.
What Barcodes.GG does differently
Barcodes.GG starts from the barcode. The catalogue holds 3.09 million barcodes across 1.57 million sneaker and streetwear products, and the barcode is the key of every record.
- One barcode per size. A lookup by UPC or EAN returns the product and the size that code belongs to in US, UK and EU sizing.
- Reverse lookup by style code. On Plus plans, a style code returns the barcodes held for it with the size of each, and a flag showing whether each barcode is verified. See the style code lookup page.
- Product images with every product record.
- A free public page per barcode. Anyone can check a code on the sneaker barcode lookup without an account.
- Misses are not charged. Only successful lookups use a request.
Plans start at €19 per month for 2,000 requests, with a 7-day trial of 100 requests and no payment method. That is a lower monthly entry price than the KicksDB Starter plan and a much higher price per request, and KicksDB has a free plan that Barcodes.GG does not. The API format is on the barcode lookup API page.
When to stay with KicksDB
- You need resale prices, asks or sales history. Barcodes.GG returns the retail price only.
- You make tens of thousands of requests a month and cost per request decides the choice.
- You want a free plan that does not expire.
- You already resolve products by SKU or name and the UPC lookup finds the barcodes you scan.
- You monitor Shopify stores.
Using both
The two APIs answer different questions, so they can sit in the same pipeline. A scan-in flow can resolve the barcode to a product, style code and size with Barcodes.GG, then ask a market data API for the current price of that style code and size. The product alternatives endpoint returns the StockX and GOAT slug and SKU for a style code, which helps join the two.
To decide, run 50 of your own barcodes through both: KicksDB on its free plan and Barcodes.GG on the trial. Count the matches and check that the size comes back. The wider field, including general barcode databases, is in the sneaker barcode API comparison.
Try it with your own barcodes
7 days, 100 requests, no payment method. Lookups that find nothing are not charged.
Frequently asked questions
